If I were to say the words Walmart and market leaders in the same sentence, you would all probably be nodding in agreement.We are talking about a well based brand (marketing-wise), that own hundreds of campaigns every year and have tons of ambassadors from all kinds.

Today we are going to examine one of their early 2020’s campaigns, called #thejokerprankshop.

Approach

In this campaign, and with the help of Influencer Marketing Factory, Walmart chose to go with a simple yet viral concept — “Prank War” between siblings. For that they targeted a few macro influencers (between 1M and 8M followers) to prank their family members with one of “the Joker Prank Shop” products sold at Walmart.

The influencers involved used a specific hashtag #thejokerprankshop. This trend became popular and drugged overall of 30M views, and many user’s trying it pranking friends and family members.

The campaigns took place in February 2020.
